Tuesday, May 285:30—6:30 PMCommunity Meeting RoomBoyden Library10 Bird Street, Foxborough, MA, 02035

Krik? Krak! These words are a traditional beginning to Haitian oral storytelling. When someone is ready to recite a story, they will say “krik?”, and the listeners will respond with “krak!”. Celebrate this Haitian tradition with a fantastic event featuring local Haitian storyteller Charlot Lucien. Family event suitable for ages 6+.

Scholar, storyteller, artist and founder of the Haitian Artists Assembly of Massachusetts, Charlot Lucien presents on Haiti’s culture and history in various international academic and cultural venues, often examining the intersections between the US abolitionist movement and the Haitian revolution.  He has released 4 storytelling CDs in Haitian Creole and participated in multiple storytelling events over the past twenty years, including with Massmouth and Northeast Storytelling. He has won numerous awards for his work.
